Villa Mas Mateu is grand Spanish estate, hosting a principal home of 15,900 sq feet and an additional 13000+ sq. feet of residential structures. Built in the 18th century, the estate retains the attention to detail of a bygone era, while providing all modern comforts and conveniences.
Entering the home, the visitor is immediately struck by the craftsmanship and attention to detail. The main living and dining area boast wood floors and exposed wood beams in the ceiling, providing a rustic feel. A stone wall with a built-in fireplace occupies one side of the room, and floor to ceiling windows on three sides provide breathtaking views of the property and beyond. The windows are easily covered with blinds to soften the morning or afternoon sun.
The kitchen is well appointed with sleek, white cabinetry, and built-in stainless steel appliances. The in-house chef can provide for a truly Catalan dining experience. With 10 bedrooms and 12 full bathrooms that are all unique and boast their own special character, Mas Mateu can accommodate up to 22 guests in style and comfort. Seven of the spacious bedrooms host queen sized beds, fireplaces, sitting areas and en-suite bathrooms. Five feature private balconies or terraces and each is decorated in unique Catalan style. The master bedroom also contains a dressing room. Two bedrooms have double beds and one hosts four twin beds. These three bedrooms provide shared bathrooms. In-house staff is quartered in additional facilities.
Outdoors, guests make their way across a stone patio and well manicured lawn to the pool area. There is a separate kitchen in a restored stone barn designed to service this area of the property. A spacious covered living and dining area runs the length of the pool. Large sliding glass doors facing the pool may be opened or closed as weather dictates. The infinity edged pool offers a place to cool off under the Spanish sun. In addition to the pool, the property boasts a spa, gymnasium, football field, basketball court, and paddle court.
Villa Mas Mateu is also home to one of Spain’s finest equestrian training facilities. The stable has space for ten horses, and there are both indoor and outdoor tracks, with six paddocks, several acres of fields, stands to accommodate up to 100 spectators, and trainers' quarters.
