The grounds unfold across a series of terraced gardens, providing multiple outdoor spaces and reinforcing the estate’s historic character. Villa La Rose has a long and eventful history. The original property was destroyed during the Napoleonic Wars amid conflict involving French and Russian-Montenegrin forces before being reconstructed in the mid-19th century. It was later expanded and reworked during the 1930s according to designs by Croatian architects Mladen Kauzlarić and Stjepan Gomboš, both associated with the modernist architectural movement influenced by Le Corbusier. More recently, the estate has undergone an extensive renovation and restoration, carefully balancing historical authenticity with the needs of contemporary living.
